Senior Adults
In every church the most precious and valuable resource is its members. At First Baptist we are blessed with many maturing and senior adults whose work and devotion has laid the foundation enabling us to be where we are today. We owe them a debt of gratitude that can never fully be repaid. We also understand the unique spiritual and lifestyle needs of today’s maturing/senior adults. We strive to meet those needs in a personal way each day in a dynamic environment that is just as unique. It is our desire to exalt the name of Jesus, edify believers, enhance the work of the local church, and evangelize the lost.
Opportunities For Involvement
Adult Sunday School
Classes are available for all adult age groups when we resume Sunday School. Currently, we have multiple virtual (online) opportunities for Sunday School.
Keenagers
We’ll resume monthly meetings when possible.
Bible Conferences and Retreats
God’s Word is an important part of the ministry at FBC. Each year our Maturing/Senior Adults have the opportunity to attend various conferences and retreats.
Adult VBS
Virtual Adult VBS was held August 10-12. We used the theme of Concrete & Cranes as we studied God's word on the Foundation of Forgiveness, Foundation of Life Change, and Foundation of Life. Larry Hicks & Keith Smyser taught on August 10 and August 12, respectively. Our special guest on August 11 was James Spann, Alabama's weatherman (meteorologist)! VBS is an annual event.
Shut-In and Nursing Home Ministry
At First Baptist we believe in an ongoing ministry, not only to our shut-in members but to others in our community. We also have an active ministry at many of our local nursing homes, and rehab facilities as conditions allow.
Day Trips
During the year our Maturing/Senior Adults have the opportunity to visit many of our area’s historical, cultural, and entertaining
