I was born in Scottsboro, Alabama and raised in Huntsville, Alabama and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Our family attended church and I was active in the Youth Group. When I was 17 years old, in the summer of 1983, God convicted me on a Sunday morning at church in Huntsville that even though I had an outward expression of Christianity, I was not saved. I came forward to receive Christ that morning at church, and was baptized my Freshman year in College.

While a Freshman in College at the University of Arizona, God called me into the ministry through the ministry of the Baptist Student Union. Afterwards, I transferred to Samford University in Birmingham to prepare to fulfill His calling on my life. During this time God brought my beautiful wife and soul mate, Suzanne into my life. Were were married in Birmingham and recently celebrated 31 years of marriage. The Lord then blessed us with 4 wonderful children, Sarah Joy, Rebekah, Christopher and Benjamin.

After graduating from Samford University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, Suzanne and I served as short term missionaries in West Africa. We returned home , enrolled in Mid America Baptist Theological Seminary in Memphis, Tennessee and graduated in 1994 with a Master of Divinity Degree.

How long have you been in full time ministry? How long have you been at FBC?

I have been in full time ministry for 25 years, having served churches in Alabama, Tennessee and Mississippi as well as a missionary in West Africa with the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. I have served at FBC Athens since July of 2020.

I have completed 2 Nashville Tough Mudder Runs. Although it took almost 4 hours to complete the course, having the support of family and friends made it worth the training .
